The Model City, located in San José Chiapa, is identified as a strategic place with immense potential to propel federal projects such as the eventual electric car plant Olinia, as well as other initiatives related to clean energy and housing. This was assured by the Secretary of Economy and Labor of Puebla, Víctor Gabriel Chedraui.
In an interview, Chedraui emphasized the importance of the region, which, along with the neighboring state of Tlaxcala, hosts over 100 auto parts companies for the automotive industry, which could favor the establishment of new factories in other areas of Puebla. In addition, he highlighted the formation of human talent that will be generated with the arrival of the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) to the entity.
According to the official, Puebla has significant educational infrastructure, which includes numerous universities that are preparing the talent of the future. This creates a conducive scenario for the development of projects in sectors such as automotive, textile, mobility, and housing, which could become viable and successful in the area.
Regarding the electric car plant, Chedraui indicated that the amount of investment has not yet been defined, but that the federal government is studying the necessary aspects for the installation of the factory. Despite representing a challenge for the entity, the Puebla government is willing to provide all facilities for its arrival.
Furthermore, the Secretary of Economy mentioned that one of the challenges associated with the transition of the vehicle fleet to electric vehicles will be the creation of the necessary infrastructure, such as chargers, electricity supply, and other supporting facilities in the region.
On the other hand, Chedraui informed about an approach with representatives of the Spanish company Iberdrola for the installation of a hydraulic and energy park in the Libres region, with the aim of promoting clean energy projects in the area.
Finally, greater foreign investment in Puebla is anticipated for 2025, especially in the real estate and photovoltaic cell sectors in the Huejotzingo area. There was also mention of interest from a Spanish company in investing in the region, with more details expected in the coming months. In this context, the projects will receive advice and support from local institutions.
